Bob attended United States International University, receiving a B.A. in 1971. In 1975, he obtained his J.D. from California Western School of Law, where he now sits on the Board of Trustees and is a member of the Executive Committee. He initially practiced labor law after law school, but after joining the law offices of William M. Shernoff in 1984, he has consistently fought insurance companies on behalf of consumers and businesses in California.

Bob is a member and former Chairman of the Committee on Group Insurance Programs of the State Bar of California. Also, Bob has served on the Board of the American Bar Association Tort and Insurance Practice sub-committees on Disability, Health and Life Insurance. He has served as a member of the California State Bar Court (discipline arm of the State Bar), been a special prosecutor for the California State Bar and is a Special Master for the California State Bar.

Gerry has decades of insurance experience as a lawyer, an insurance industry planning executive, an insurance industry innovator, and as President and CEO of the sales and marketing arm of one of the world's largest insurance companies. He has also served as a consultant to many leading insurance companies and served as an expert on insurance matters for the U.S. Department of Justice, the Internal Revenue Service and the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Gerry has been licensed as an attorney since 1964 in New York and since 1991 in California. He also has been a member of the Bar of the Supreme Court of the United States since 1977. He graduated with honors from the College of William and Mary in 1961, earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School in 1964, and later completed the Executive Program at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. After serving as an officer with the Army Security Agency, he was trial attorney at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, where he headed the special enforcement unit of the SEC's New York office. He also practiced law at top-rated firms in New York and California.

Gerry, like Bob Scott, also is a member of and former Chairman of the Committee on Group Insurance Programs of the State Bar of California. Gerry also has served as Chair of the Insurance Committee of the American Bar Association's Section of Administrative Law and Regulatory Practice, as a member of that ABA section's Council and Executive Committee.

His extensive service to the legal profession and public includes years as the Chair of the Administrative Law Committee of the New York City Bar Association and a Vice-Chair of the New York City Bar Association's Professional Responsibility Committee.
